The NCSMA Advisers Association provides a space for advisers to create a network of student media teachers in the state. Members of the advisers association receive publication and online news critiques, yearly contests for individuals and media, two issues of the Scoop Update newsletter and access to the Book of Firsts, a publication of each of the first place winners in each NCSMA individual media contest category.

Meeting twice each year, the association’s 26 officers have worked to plan regional workshops, the summer Institute, and statewide media contests.
